Résumé

A capillary tube based CO2 heat pump system is distinctly different from a conventional subcritical system due to its transcritical nature. A steady state simulation model has been developed to evaluate the system performance of a transcritical carbon dioxide heat pump system for simultaneous heating and cooling application employing an adiabatic capillary tube as an expansion device. The performance of the transcritical system has been critically compared with an optimal system with a controllable expansion valve. Contrary to expectations, the capillary tube system exhibits a fair degree of flexibility and adaptability with respect to changes in ambient temperature, almost behaving to offer an optimal pressure control. The capillary tube even yields marginally better performance compared to a fixed pressure valve system both in terms of COP and cooling capacity.
