Optimisation génétique des serpentins de refroidissement à plaques ailetées pour le dioxyde de carbone.

Genetic optimization of plate-fin cooling coils for carbon dioxide.

Résumé

To study the optimum configuration of a cooling coil working with carbon dioxide as the refrigerant, calculations were carried out on a specified finned plate and tube coil as an example. The frontal area, the tube-fin pitching, and the number of parallel circuits were varied, only the capacity of the coil and the inlet air temperature were held constant. A simple model of the coil was set up for evaluation the refrigerant-side and air-side heat transfer resistances using recognized correlations. Important distinctive criteria to be optimized are a life cycle cost parameter including energy and metal expenditures and metal expenditure as a separate objective. Because of the great number of dimensioning parameters, a multivariable optimization is required. For the purpose, a genetic algorithm was applied. The results show that it was not possible to find any single parameter which is relevant for the optimum configuration of the geometric dimensions. Several combinations give results near to the optimum.
