Résumé

The work reported in the paper helps to understand the behaviour of ice slurry in a heat exchanger. The heat transfer and friction characteristics of a 10% (wt/wt) ethanol/water ice slurry were studied in a double pipe heat exchanger. Heat transfer coefficients and pressure drops were experimentally investigated for the slurry flowing in the internal smooth tube. Measurements were obtained for ice mass fractions ranging from 0 to 25% and mass flow rates between 0.1 and 0.7 kg/s. For some flow rates, the results showed that an increase in ice fractions caused a change in the slurry flow structure influencing the evolution of the pressure drops and the heat transfer coefficients.
