Résumé

Heat pumps are increasingly being considered as an alternative to combustion-based heating plants as a means to reduce operating costs and carbon emissions, and are now the fastest growing form of heating in the UK. This BSRIA Guide explains the design of heat-pump based heating and cooling systems to maximise the benefits of reduced operating costs and carbon emissions while avoiding excessive capital costs for plant and infrastructure. The guide's emphasis is on the application of packaged heat pump plants for residential and small commercial buildings. Some guidance is provided for a component-based plant that may be used for larger scale applications. Extract from the table of contents: heat pump fundamentals; legislation; outline design; detailed design of heating and cooling source; detailed design of heating and cooling distribution; system controls; installation; commissioning and testing. In the appendix: heat pump thermodynamics; commissioning and testing; F-gas regulations.
