Résumé

In comparison with conventional CO2 capture methods, the volume of research on low-temperature and cryogenic capture technologies is rather low. This work gives a brief overview of relevant capture conditions for power cycles and industrial processes in terms of CO2 concentration and partial pressure. For a selection of these capture conditions the potential energy performance of low-temperature capture by partial condensation of CO2 is initially evaluated. For the investigated process configurations, performance in terms of specific capture work and CO2 capture ratio progressively worsens with decreasing CO2 concentration in the flue gas feed. The performance can, however, be significantly improved through process modifications. To fully determine the potential for low-temperature capture from the considered flue gas compositions, careful process design and optimisation for each case is required.
