Résumé
To improve the shape stability and heat storage performance of paraffin wax (PW)-based phase change materials (PCMs), original biochar (OC) and activated biochar (AC) were prepared from waste white pine wood by carbonization and K2CO3 activation, respectively. Subsequently, OC/PW and AC/PW composite PCMs were prepared by vacuum impregnation. The pore structure, compatibility, phase change performance, and thermal stability of the samples were analyzed using several characterization methods. The results show that K2CO3 activation significantly improves the pore structure of white pine biochar. The specific surface area of AC increases from 499.09 m2/g for OC to 1222.41 m2/g. XRD and FTIR results show that PW is successfully loaded into biochar, and the composite process is mainly based on physical interaction without destroying the crystal structure and chemical structure of PW. DSC results show that the melting and crystallization enthalpies of AC/PW are 142.9 and 146.4 J/g, respectively, which are approximately twice those of OC/PW. Based on the melting enthalpy, the effective PW fraction in AC/PW is estimated to be 72.54%, which agrees well with the PW mass fraction of about 72.81 wt% determined by TG analysis. The composite material also exhibits good thermal stability within the actual phase change working temperature range. The results indicate that
K2CO3 activation can effectively improve the PW loading capacity of biochar and the heat storage performance of composite PCMs, providing a reference for the application of waste wood biochar in phase change energy storage materials.
