Résumé

The primary objective of this study (see also the Bulletin of the IIR, reference 2003-2090) was to document refrigerant disposal policies, practices, and national plans in countries representative of major refrigeration and air-conditioning markets located in Asia, Europe, and North America. It quantifies the corresponding emissions reduction impacts and compares and contrasts the effectiveness of different disposal policy approaches. It intends to serve as an international state-of-the-art assessment of these issues. Extract from the table of contents: refrigerant conservation (containment; design; installation; operation; servicing; recovery, recycling and reclamation; disposal); refrigerant destruction (regulations; potential for ODS destruction); destruction technologies (criteria; destruction and removal efficiency; emissions of dioxins and furans; emission of acid gases, particulate matter and carbon monoxide; technical capability; acceptable technologies; incineration; plasma technologies); country specific survey; survey assessment (refrigerant disposal; regulations; programs; destruction facilities; ODS throughput and costs; refrigerant recovery, recycling and reclamation); recommendations.
