Résumé

This paper presents the objectives, structure and first results of a new R&D project financially supported by FP7 of the European Commission called Next Generation of Heat Pumps working with Natural fluids, which acronym is NxtHPG. The general objective of NxtHPG is the development of a set of safe, reliable, high efficiency and high capacity heat pumps working with natural refrigerants, namely: Hydrocarbons and CO2. The first step of the project consisted in the identification of the cases in which the development of new first series of heat pumps employing Natural refrigerants here within the project could lead to a fast commercial exploitation. 5 different cases have been selected, 3 for hydrocarbons and 2 for CO2. The paper first presents the main objectives and expected results of the project, and its structure. Then, the main characteristics of each case and of the design of the corresponding prototypes are presented in the paper.
