Récupération de chaleur provenant de supermarchés : étude de cas au Royaume-Uni.

Heat recovery from supermarkets, a UK case study.

Résumé

This paper investigates the use of rejected heat from supermarkets food display cases to provide local heating for residential dwellings through a heat network. Heat is captured from the supermarket refrigeration condensers via an ambient water loop and a large heat pump elevates the temperature for use in residential space heating and hot water. This delivers low carbon heat for local flats and improves the efficiency of the supermarket refrigeration system. In addition, the paper investigated additional value streams associated with use of PV (photovoltaics) on the supermarket roof and vehicle to grid EV (electric vehicle) charging providing energy storage and charging opportunities. The paper describes the system concept proposed, the model developed, and the performance results compared to a traditional counterfactual. The retail sector provides a bigger opportunity, with very large numbers of buildings, at a very local level, where this could be implemented at scale.
