Résumé

So far, compressor-driven air conditioners are highly energy intensive while conventional evaporative coolers create excessive humidity. Currently, in studies, indirect evaporative cooling seems to be a better process for air conditioning. Some alternatives of humidity generating evaporative coolers and power eating compressor driven air conditioners have been studied. The article focuses on use of a heat pipe thermodynamic loop in conjunction with an evaporative cooler. For a 10-kilowatt cooling load, a heat pipe with 68 metre length, 12 millimetre outer tube diameter with integrated circular fins of 400 per metre is recommended for use. The two-stage process is explained with regard to the psychrometry of the room air.
