The role of heat pumps in a deregulated energy market.

Auteurs : BOUMA J., BREEMBROEK G.

Résumé

Heat pump developments in several countries demonstrate that utilities fulfil an important role in stimulating the present and future heat pump market. The International Energy Agency (IEA) Heat Pump Centre initiated a study with the goal to analyse the current (1997-98) international status of deregulation and restructuring and the impact of deregulation on the residential and commercial heat pump market. The study concentrates on the impact of deregulation on power utilities and the role of electric heat pumps, and is based on the current situation and prospects. Deregulation of the energy market is accomplished in various ways and the status of implementation is different in countries and evolves at different pace. It creates new challenges and offers new opportunities for utilities to serve and retain customers.
