Résumé

Quality approach of home-based intravenous chemotherapy requires cold chain validation to secure transport from production unit of pharmacy department to patient’s home. In practice, the cooling time before packaging is a significant step. The objective is to assess a “rapid” cooling and define a model of heat transfer. Chemotherapy preparations are simulated with several syringes and bags containing sodium chloride. After fifteen compared tests, the difference of cooling time averages from room temperature to 5°C is statistically significant for every device between “rapid” and “standard” cooling (student’s test, p<0.001). The prototype allows the cooling process to be accelerated with a lower uncertainly of temperature measurement. In the current practice, the use of abacuses defined by the heat transfer model allows the sensitive step of home-based intravenous chemotherapy logistics process to be secured.
