Sélection et optimisation de la proportion du mélange propane-isobutane du point de vue des critères choisis.

The selection and optimisation of appropriate proportions for a mixture of propane and isobutane.

Résumé

The paper presents the thermodynamic basis for the advisability of using zeotropic blends in refrigerating systems. A comparison of the efficiency of the Lorenz and Carnot cycles was performed, as were estimations of the potential advantages resulting from the realization of the Lorenz cycle. The basic assumption was that, for minimal energy consumption by a given refrigerator unit, it is possible to determine an optimum proportion for the propane-isobutane mixture that is used as a refrigerant. This thesis was based on an adequate mathematical model of the refrigerating cycle and the results of an experiment. The experiment was performed using a standard household compression refrigerator. The measuring system consisted of three fundamental points: a battery of sensors with transmitters, an analog-to-digital converter and a PC. The results of this piece of research show that HC-290/HC-600a mixtures can be used as a substitute for chlorofluorocarbon refrigerants in domestic refrigeration systems, and can achieve a refrigerating effect as good as that found with CFC-12. The compressor used in the experiments was a standard hermetic unit, using typical oil. The suggested method of analytical research gives the optimum composition for the propane-isobutane mixtures, which give the lowest level of energy consumption, amounting to 45/55.
