Résumé

District cooling (DC) systems work with a small temperature difference compared to district heating. This leads to relatively high investment cost for piping and pumping. Many DC operators have had difficulties in maintaining acceptable temperature differences in their networks. This, in combination with the growth of the systems lead to a shortage of cooling capacity and potential losses of revenues for the DC operator. Different methods and strategies for increasing the temperature difference and other options for increasing the capacity of DC networks are discussed (Sweden, France and the United States). The solutions are site specific.
