Résumé

In spite of the expanding use of modern chillers with low ammonia charge and efficient coolants as a cooling medium, most plants still will have to use refrigerating installations with ammonia as a cooling medium. Much attention is paid in Russia to the problem of their safety. To increase their safety level, some technical solutions have been developed and used with a view to reducing evaporation of the spilled liquid ammonia. A number of new technical aids must be created to increase their safety level.
