Résumé

Efficient and safe ultra-low temperature storage is critical for maintaining the integrity of biologics, vaccines, and Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). Conventional upright and walk-in freezers often suffer from high energy consumption, space inefficiency, and safety concerns. This paper presents the development of an automated ultra-low temperature freezer designed to replace traditional systems through a sustainable air-based refrigeration cycle operating between –40°C and –90°C. The system eliminates the use of synthetic refrigerants, ensuring environmental compliance while enabling precise temperature control. Automation provides complete digital traceability and data integrity throughout the storage process. Comparative analyses demonstrate significant improvements in energy efficiency, operational safety, and footprint reduction. The results highlight how integrating sustainable refrigeration with intelligent automation offers a next-generation solution for pharmaceutical cold storage.
