Résumé

The temperature distribution in household refrigeration compressors may significantly affect their thermodynamic efficiency, lubrication and reliability. The associated heat transfer phenomenon involves a strong interaction between the thermodynamic performance, electric motor dissipation and viscous dissipation in the bearings. This paper presents a thermal model used to predict the temperature of several components of a reciprocating compressor adopted for household refrigeration, with special attention to the oil flow. The lumped energy equation is applied to 63 elements, which are connected using thermal conductances obtained by using heat correlations available in the literature. The compression cycle is simulated through polytropic compression. The model was tested under 3 different operating conditions, providing results for refrigerant, solid parts and oil temperature distribution. Overall, good agreement was obtained between numerical results and experimental data.
