Utilisation du CO2 pour le conditionnement d'air et le refroidissement en général.

Use of carbon dioxide for air conditioning and general refrigeration.

Numéro : pap. 225

Auteurs : PEARSON S. F.

Résumé

Carbon dioxide has not been considered seriously for air conditioning nor for general refrigeration because of the high pressures involved, lack of suitable equipment and the general perception that carbon dioxide systems must be of much lower efficiency than refrigerating systems using refrigerants with higher critical temperatures. The paper shows that use of high pressure compressors, some of which have been designed for use in heat pumps with ammonia at pressures of up to 75 BarA, in conjunction with evaporative condensers that allow condensing temperatures below critical in temperate climates, results in system efficiencies that are comparable to system efficiencies achieved by using halocarbon refrigerants with air cooled condensers under similar conditions. Special circuits to take advantage of the unusual properties of carbon dioxide are described.
