Résumé

Supporting the COP26 High Level Champion’s Climate Action Pathway, the Environmental Investigation Agency produced a product list for net-zero cooling. The list showcases products across major cooling sectors, focusing on ultra-low Global Warming Potential natural refrigerants alongside energy efficiency to help businesses, government and consumers make sustainable cooling choices. The report provides evidence that natural refrigerant solutions are viable alternatives for the cooling sector’s transition to net-zero emissions.
The report covers domestic, commercial, industrial and transport refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pumps. While numerous commercially available products exist, access to net-zero products varies widely. Some subsectors are more advanced while others may require policy and industry intervention to accelerate action. Access is hampered by inadequate government policies, poor energy performance standards, product costs, outdated building and product regulation and lacklustre support for training.
