Résumé

Double-effect LiBr-H2O systems have proved to have significant higher COPs than single effect but they need driving temperatures that can only be obtained with high temperature solar collectors as the concentrating solar collectors. In order to achieve a continuous operation of this type of solar absorption systems, a hot water storage tank and an additional heater need to be used. This paper presents an analysis of the performance of a double-effect parallel flow ammonia-salt absorption system with lithium nitrate as absorbent driven by solar energy for sub-zero evaporation temperatures. The ideal strong solution distribution for the operating conditions is investigated. Ratio of 0.65 appears to be the most advantageous. Dynamic simulations are carried out using meteorological data. The relation between size of storage and the percentage heat supply delivered by the solar collectors are discussed and conclusions are presented.
