Résumé

These proceedings contain 178 papers of this conference, sponsored by the DG XVII of the European Union's Commission of European Communities as part of the THERMIE Programme, held in Lisbon, Portugal, on July 12-15, 1999. Themes: Volume 1: co-combustion; heavy metals; flue gas desulphurization; NOx post-combustion abatement and environmental abatement technologies; chemical kinetics; combustion modelling; coal blends, premixed and pulsed combustion; spray and fluidized bed combustion; incineration; workshop "The challenge of Kyoto"; CO2 removal and storage; application of porous media to combustion processes; modelling of furnaces and boilers. Volume 2: solid fuel burners; PAH and volatile organic compounds; SOx abatement technologies and emission abatement technologies in process industry; fundamentals of particle devolatilization and in heterogeneous combustion; gas turbine and catalytic combustion; gasification, reburning, engines, soot effects, diffusion flames, ash characterization; energetic utilization of biomass; particulate matter formation, fuel preparation and control. Some of the articles will be abstracted in a future issue of the IIR Bulletin.
