Résumé

The supercooling method could be used to produce ice slurry very energy-efficiently in the future. In this process, a liquid is cooled below its freezing point and then selectively stimulated to crystallize. However, for the large-scale applicability of this method, factors such as the instability of the supercooling and the low achievable supercooling must be improved. These two factors are mainly determined by the interface between the supercooled fluid and the substrate surface. Non-metallic as well as amorphous substrate surfaces show very good properties and, if used properly, both stability and supercooling capability can be improved. In this study, different configurations of substrate surfaces and fluids are investigated for their stability and supercooling ability, and the flow velocity of the flowing fluid is also taken into account. Through the investigation, a prediction can be made on how ice slurry generators, in approximate real system under certain parameter configurations, will behave.
