Application des technologies de visualisation à la recherche sur la mécanique des cryofluides.

Application of visualization technique to cryogenic thermo-fluid mechanics research.

Auteurs : MURAKAMI M.

Résumé

In this article, several visualization techniques that have been successfully used in the author's cryogenic thermophysical studies are discussed. The first is categorized into direct observation methods, which can be applied to some physical phenomena in which large difference in the refractive index appears. He II film boiling and He II cavitation flow through a Venturi channel that could be observed by the naked eye were recorded by a high-speed video. It is shown that some faint phenomena can be better visualized if some image enhancement technique is used together. The second examples are the application of tracer particles by which He II thermal counterflow jet was visualized and recorded by a still camera, or through some elaborated optical systems, such as PIV and LDV. PIV was also applied to He II cavitation flow in which cavitation bubbles were used as tracers instead of adding solid particles. The third example is the application of the laser holography interferometer to thermal shock waves in He II.
