Caractérisation expérimentale d'un compresseur à spirale et d'un compresseur à piston destiné aux installations commerciales fonctionnant au R22 et au propane (R290).

Experimental characterization of a commercial-size scroll and reciprocating compressor working with R22 and propane (R290) as refrigerant.

Résumé

In this experimental work, two compressors of similar size, a commercial type refrigeration scroll unit and a positive displacement hermetic reciprocating compressor, both with a nominal capacity of about 20 kW, were characterized using R22 and pure propane (R290) as refrigerants. Both compressors used the same mineral oil with each of the refrigerants. Test results provide a complete picture on modifications in volumetric efficiency, isentropic efficiency and thermal transfer characteristics. Refrigerating capacity was lowered by the use of propane in both types of units, but at the same time there was an increase in COP and in isentropic efficiency, and lower thermal losses appeared due to the substantially lower discharge temperatures of propane.
