Résumé

As a natural working fluid, carbon dioxide is a promising choice of refrigerant substitutions. Water heating is one promising application of the CO2 transcritical cycle. In this paper, a CO2 heat pump water heater (HPWT) prototype was constructed. A tube-fin heat exchanger was used as an evaporator. A double-tube heat exchanger was used as a gas cooler. And a capillary tube was chosen as the expansion device. And some experiments were conducted to determine the optimum capillary tube. Meanwhile the influence of the temperature of the water supplied to the gas cooler on the performance of the prototype was studied. This could lead two different methods of water supplied to the consumer's convenience. The results indicated that the CO2 HPWT is more competitive than the traditional water heater and has a better future.
