Performance des chauffe-eaux à pompe à chaleur au CO2.

Performance of CO2 heat pump water heaters.

Résumé

Experimental efforts including the test setup, instrumentation, and major test results for a CO2 heat pump water heaters (HPWH) bread board are described. The performance of the CO2 HPWH was evaluated under three heating scenarios: initial water heating with its entire tank volume filled with fresh tap water; normal water heating while hot water was used under a specific water draw profile; and standby water heating, simulating tank heat losses. The performance was highest for initial tank heating, and lowest for standby loss heating. Additional parameters studied in these scenarios were hot water temperature and ambient temperature. Two models were created and verified with test data, one for the CO2 HPWH and one for conventional refrigerants with subcritical cycles. CO2 was found to be more favourable for water heating than any of the subcritical refrigerants.
