Résumé

In this study, cold preservation of primary endothelial cells (human umbilical vein endothelial cells) on a growing cell line (ECV304 cells) were compared. Viability after 24 h of cold preservation was measured using dye exclusion. Sucrose-based solutions proved to be very effective in protecting endothelial cell metabolism if the cells were exposed to this solution during the application of rising temperatures at the end of cold storage. The high degree of protection of endothelial cells during normoxic exposure may prove valuable in aerobic storage regimes such as venous oxygen persufflation.
