Résumé

A cryotherapy system with a cooling mechanism based on the Joule-Thomson effect allows to easy control freezing and thawing. MR is capable of describing the extension of frozen tissue with high accuracy and excellent contrast between the frozen and non-frozen tissue due to the extreme decrease of T2 relaxation time of frozen water. Using an MR compatible cryotherapy system, the authors performed percutaneous of transvaginal cryotherapy for renal cell carcinomas, malignant liver tumours and uterine fibroids. All procedures were safely and accurately carried out without any major complications. The authors retreated residual tumour of RCC. MR guided cryotherapy seems to be ideal and expected treatment as minimal invasive therapy.
