Résumé

The high glycerol rapid freezing method using 60% glycerol solution (final 30%), which the author had used for the transfusion of autologous frozen blood in the National Kyushu Medical Center Hospital since April 1997, will be introduced by a cryobiologist actively serving since 1965. High glycerol rapid freezing does not need a mechanical freezer. And bursting of the blood freezing bag is not encountered as the largest part of the bag is located in a vapor phase of liquid nitrogen. In addition, it is not necessary to worry about the cooling and thawing rates during operation due to stronger colligative effect. There were no side effects including hemoglobinuria and rapid appearance of anemia after the high glycerol rapid freezing frozen blood autotransfusion.
