Résumé

The EU is obliged to reduce its total emissions of HFC, PFC and SF6 through reduction of emissions and reporting consumptions. Important measures are reduction of leakage and collection of used gas. To avoid trade barriers and distortion of competition within the EU, a common set of rules is needed. What are the consequences for the Norwegian refrigeration industry if the EU passes such a directive? The equipment manufacturers must emphasise impervious systems of superior quality. The owners of refrigeration systems should prioritise quality over price and focus on energy-efficient installations. New technology and natural refrigeration are required, as are maintenance and technical reports. Mandatory inspection and control of refrigerant consumption will decrease leakage from refrigerant systems. Providers will be in great demand as a result of the need for education, certification and inspection. A central committee is needed to coordinate the certification requirements. The EU-directive will lead to increased knowledge and positive development for the entire Norwegian refrigeration industry.
