Effet des conditions ambiantes au Koweït sur la performance du condenseur d'un appareil de conditionnement d'air split.

Effect of ambient conditions in Kuwait on the performance of a condenser of a split air-conditioning unit.

Résumé

Experiments on precooling of condenser inlet air of split air conditioning systems yielded a drop in power consumption, an increase in cooling load and an increase in the COP. In light of these results, this research applies a performance evaluation criteria based on energy conservation, rate equations and the second law of thermodynamics in order to study the effect of inlet air temperature to the condenser on the system performance from the second law point of view, and accordingly, to optimally design the heat exchanger based on the design inlet air temperature. The model evaluates the air-side heat exchanger performance. It accounts for the entropy generation due to coupling between the system and the heat exchanger. The second law analysis complemented the results of the first law analysis and the experimentation. The lower the inlet-air temperature, the better the performance of the heat exchanger.
