Effets de l'entreposage de longue durée des coulis de glace sur la distribution de la taille des cristaux.

Effects of long-term ice slurry storage on crystal size distribution.

One of the main advantages of the application of ice slurry for refrigeration purposes is that it allows for load shifting and peak shaving. To take advantage of these possibilities, an ice slurry storage facility is required. Inside such a storage facility, some mechanisms, such as attribution, agglomeration, and Ostwald ripening, can alter the crystal size distribution. This crystal size distribution is an important parameter for the performance of ice slurry based secondary cooling systems. In the paper, literature on the above-mentioned mechanisms is reviewed. Subsequently, experiments were carried out to study the change in crystal size distribution in a storage vessel as a function of time.
