Étude paramétrique et analyse thermodynamique et technoéconomique pour améliorer l’efficacité de la liquéfaction de l’hydrogène.
Parametric study and thermodynamic, techno-economic analysis for efficiency enhancement in hydrogen liquefaction.
Résumé
Considering damage caused by the abnormal climate resulting from global warming, hydrogen has emerged as a viable alternative to fossil fuels as a clean energy carrier. For the hydrogen economy to be fully realized, efficient hydrogen liquefaction is necessary to enable large-scale storage and transport. The commercial Claude cycle hydrogen liquefaction process, using liquid nitrogen for pre-cooling, has an SEC of 12-15 kWhkgLH2⁄ and an exergy efficiency of 20-30%. These results indicate that adjusting parameters could further enhance the efficiency of the process.
In this paper, the pressure of the hydrogen refrigerant discharged from the compressor, which has the greatest impact on the SEC value, was adjusted to 20 bar, 40 bar, and 60 bar, and the minimum temperature approach (MTA) of the heat exchanger, a piece of equipment with a high amount of exergy destruction, was varied to 0.5K, 1K, and 1.5K. In this way, the Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) and Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) value of a commercial hydrogen liquefaction cycle were analyzed, and the performance was compared under nine conditions. A comprehensive thermodynamic and economic analysis was conducted for each case to ascertain the pivotal factors that enhance the overall process efficiency. The results identify pivotal factors that facilitate the reduction of SEC and cost, providing insights into the methodologies for enhancing the technical and economic viability of hydrogen liquefaction.
