Résumé
This study presents findings of indoor environmental quality (IEQ) conditions investigations conducted in eight (8) elementary schools across Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) using physical measurements, and survey administration methods. Walkthrough investigations were also conducted to identify any potential sources that could include classrooms IEQ conditions. IEQ conditions were measured in 8 selected classrooms, one in each of the schools, for 8 hours during school hours. A majority of the measured IEQ conditions exceeded recommended threshold limits provided by cognizance authorities. Correlations were observed between measured parameters and students’ IEQ perceptions though students were generally satisfied with their classroom IEQ conditions. This study highlights the need to provide a healthy learning environment for children in the UAE, a country with potential indoor and outdoor sources that can lead to poor IEQ conditions.
