Résumé

Experimental studies for the freezing phenomenon of ethylene glycol solution on a polyvinylchloride or acrylic resin cooled plate have been performed. It is found that the crystal ice formed on the cooled plate is removed from the plate surface due to the buoyancy force. This means that ice formation on a cooled plate without a deposited ice layer is possible. It is shown that the cooled plate surface is supercooled about 1 °C below the freezing temperature of the solution. The degree of supercooled temperature is unaffected by the cooling temperature of the plate. For higher solute concentrations, it is found that the number of the removed crystals of ice per unit of time is increased and the volume of each removed ice crystal is decreased.
