Résumé

There are special safety and technical issues to be addressed in the use of hydrocarbons as refrigerants in commercial areas. Exact information is needed on possible sources of danger, in order to assess risks for particular applications. A concept for a milk cooling installation was developed on the basis of a broad approach to safety, and a prototype plant with about 15 kilowatts refrigerating capacity at an evaporating temperature of -5 deg C was built and brought into service.
