Le bilan de dix ans d'expérience sur la réduction de charge dans les petits systèmes aux hydrocarbures, à ammoniac et aux HFC.

Summarizing a decade of experience on charge reduction for small hydrocarbon, ammonia and HFC systems.

Auteurs : PALM B.

Résumé

Since about ten years different projects have been completed at the Royal Institute of Technology where reduction of refrigerant charge has been one of the main goals. The most important motivation for this research has been to allow the safe use of natural refrigerants such as hydrocarbons and ammonia. Reduction of charge would also be motivated while using synthetic refrigerants as it would reduce the losses in case of a leak. This paper will present an overview of the results from some of these projects. In the paper, designs of highly compact water to water heat pump systems with propane and ammonia as refrigerant are describe. The charge distribution in one of these systems is presented, pointing to the necessity of using highly compact heat exchangers. Results from tests with evaporation in single tubes of diameters around 1 mm are also presented. Knowledge of heat transfer and pressure drop in mini-channels is of crucial importance for the design of ultra-compact heat exchangers.
