Résumé

Recent measurements performed by different research groups indicate that the CO2 concentration in many classrooms far exceeds the maximum standards. This is a result of inadequate ventilation, especially during colder periods of the year. Another problem is the overheating of classrooms outside the winter period, which is caused by a combination of solar radiation and a high internal heat load. Many authors reconcile themselves to the idea that a poor interior climate is inevitable in school classrooms because of the large number of pupils concentrated in a small space. Perhaps they are insufficiently aware of what this means for the health, the learning/work performance and the comfort of the children and school staff.
