Mesure des impacts des particules sur les parois dans un échangeur de chaleur à lit fluidisé.

Measuring particle-wall Impacts in a fluidized bed heat exchanger.

Résumé

Liquid-solid fluidized bed heat exchangers are applied in heat transfer processes that suffer from serious scaling or fouling on heat exchanger walls. In these heat exchangers, an upwardly moving process stream fluidizes steel particles which continuously impact on the walls thereby removing deposits. A typical application, discussed in a parallel paper, is the production of ice slurry in which ice crystals are continuously removed from the cooled walls by stainless steel particles. This paper gives more insight on particle-wall impacts in fluidized beds and presents experiments in which a piezoelectric sensor was applied to measure these impacts. Experiments were performed with both stationary and circulating fluidized beds at different operating conditions, such as different particles sizes and bed voidages. The results reveal that the total impulse exerted by particles on the wall best matches the ice scaling prevention ability described in the parallel paper.
