Meubles frigorifiques de vente verticaux avec portes : influence de la fréquence d'ouverture des portes sur la température d'entreposage et la consommation frigorifique.

Vertical display cabinets with doors: influence of the door-opening frequency on storage temperature and cooling demand.

Résumé

Supermarkets are significant energy users, in particular of electricity, and storage of refrigerated food accounts for half of the total electricity use. A substantial part of this use relates to open vertical display cabinets. The common design with an open front makes the cabinet sensitive for infiltration. A possible mitigation of the infiltration problem, however, is the fitting of doors. The effectiveness of this measure will depend on the door opening frequency and duration. The purpose of this study has been to link measurements on door openings under real conditions to results and conclusions from measurements under controlled conditions in a laboratory. As expected, it has been shown that a higher frequency increases the cooling demand. The impact of opening frequency on storage temperature, however, was small. Nevertheless, results show that the potential for energy savings and improved storage temperature is quite high by retrofitting doors to open vertical cabinets.
