Résumé
The preparation of LaFe(13-x)Si(x) and LaFe(11)Co(2-x)Si(x) compounds via a recently reported reduction-diffusion process is presented varying Si and Co contents (x = 1.2, 1.4 and 1.56 respectively). The XRD analyses showed an increase of the desired 1:13 phase with an increase of Si content in both, Co and Co-free compounds. However, in Co-free with Si1.2 almost none 1:13 phase was stabilized and for Si1.57 nearly 100 wt% of La(Fe,Si)13 was obtained. In Co compounds the 1:13 phase crystallization was observed even in Si1.2. Besides, the possibility to synthesize samples with interstitial atoms, such as hydrogen, is also presented. In all compositions, after the lixiviation process, necessary to get rid of residual CaO and Ca, the samples exhibit higher TC values compared to those of samples with the same composition, obtained via conventional melting techniques. This temperature is close to the La(Fe,Si)13 hydrides and shows that lanthanum based compounds produced by reduction-diffusion (R/D) are hydrogenated, in-situ, during the washing process like in the case of the parent composition, the LaFe(13-x)Si(x), pointing the potentiality of this process to produce La-Fe-Si compounds.
