Résumé
The desiccant rotor is widely used in the desiccant cooling system or fresh air unit to remove moisture from the air. Generally, the regenerative temperature and flow rate will affect the dehumidifying performance, so it is very important to inspect the moisture transportation especially when the desiccant rotor is applied in the solar driven system. In the present study, three kinds of silica based adsorbents, including the modified silica gel, mesoporous silica with the average pore size of 2 nm and 4 nm respectively, are employed to construct the desiccant rotors. The mass diffusivities of these materials are experimentally measured via a gravimetric method and the dehumidifying capacity using silica gel is experimentally measured via a conventional method by recording the difference of the humidity ratio between the inlet and outlet air ducts. A mathematical model is set up and verified by the experimental data. Consequently, the effects of the regenerative temperature and rotary speed, and the structural parameters including the wall thickness of desiccant sheets, sectional area ratio between the adsorption and desorption zones, are predicted
by the mathematical model.
