Résumé

The IEA GHG is an objective source of information on technologies capable of achieving large reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. It was set up as an international collaborative activity in 1991, completing its third phase in November 2000. This report covers the second year of Phase 4 (1 December 2001 to 30 November 2002). Two external events have been among the highlights of the past year: the 6th International Conference on Greenhouse Gas Control Technologies (GHGT-6) and IPCC's workshop on Capture and Storage of CO2. In addition, the Programme has continued with its series of technical studies, as well as facilitating an increasing number of practical projects and broadening the range of its communications. Technical studies in 2002 were on the following: CO2 capture, transmission, and storage; alternative energy carriers; putting mitigation options in perspective; power generation: retrofit options; other greenhouse gases.
