Résumé

These compounds with x= 0.80, 0.85, 0.90, 0.95 and 1.0, were prepared by ball milling in vacuum and high-temperature solid-state reaction in an Ar atmosphere. Magnetocaloric properties of the compounds were investigated by means of magnetic measurements. The compounds undergo a ferromagnetic to paramagnetic first-order transition and the Curie temperature increases with increasing Fe contents. The maximal magnetic-entropy change of Mn(1.15)Fe(0.85)P(0.51)Si(0.49) reaches 13.9 J/kg.K in a field change of 0-1.5 T. The minimal thermal hysteresis of the compounds is about 10 K, The large magnetocaloric effects and the low materials cost of Mn(2-x)Fe(x)P(0.51)Si(0.49) make them a promising candidate material for room-temperature magnetic refrigeration applications.
