Résumé

A brief review on research and development activities on ice slurries in Japan is given. The paper consists in 2 parts: 1) fundamental studies of the production, the transportation and the melting of ice slurry; the performance of cold thermal storage; computer simulation of the cold thermal storage system has been performed to study the effect of such as the operation mode on the system performance; 2) description of the state of the art of ice slurries which is applied to development of ice storage systems for air conditioning uses in Japan; the types of ice storage system were categorized into five groups by the way of ice manufacturing; performance of ice storage systems.
