Refroidissement à écoulement forcé d'aimants supraconducteurs pour les applications de fusion.

Forced flow cooling of large superconducting magnets for fusion application.

Auteurs : ZAHN G. R., HELLER R.

Résumé

Helium (He) forced flow cooling (FFC) of large superconducting magnets was investigated for more than 25 years at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (Germany), and the reliability of FFC was successfully demonstrated. The FFC together with internally cooled conductors became attractive for large superconducting magnets, e.g. for fusion applications. These magnets have to cope with high forces during energizing, high voltages during safety discharge and the requirements of a uniform temperature distribution during cool down. For different applications, FFC was investigated including the required special components for cooling with two-phase He I as well as for one-phase He I and He II at supercritical pressure.
