Résumé

R-404A has been the global industry standard HFC-refrigerant for commercial and industrial refrigeration in both medium and low temp applications. However due to the implementation of EU F Gas regulation 517/ 2014 and the high global warming potential of R-404A (AR4 100 year GWP = 3922), interest is growing to offer low GWP alternatives which match R-404A performance. DuPont has investigated and found a suitable blend which can match or even beat R-404A performance while reducing GWP significantly. Two approaches have been investigated: The first is to use the new blend for retrofitting existing R-404A/ R-507A-systems and second to design new units with it. This is desirable for large supermarket systems and for retrofit of existing R-404A systems in the field which were designed for nonflammable refrigerants. These approaches will be evaluated by thermodynamic cycle analysis, laboratory experiments and numerous supermarket trials. Results presented from these measurements include a field test in Italy, enabling the performance comparison of R-449A with respect to R-404A baseline data, energy consumption and pressure temperature data.
