Résumé

Pollution in bedrooms and kitchen is one of the main air quality problems in residential buildings. It has been focused by several studies, namely by the French observatory of indoor air quality, which show that bedrooms are generally confined, due to night pollution by occupants, and that the air quality in the kitchen is strongly degraded by contaminants released from cooking activities. Different ventilation strategies can be applied to try to overcome these problems. This paper focuses on the analysis of air quality and energy demand with regard to windows opening strategies associated with ventilation systems. The analysis is carried out by numerical simulations in a multi-family residential building, equipped with two different ventilation systems. The results show that this windows opening strategy can be useful for quickly improving the indoor air quality and harmful in the energy point of view.
