Résumé

The research described in this PhD thesis develops and implements new models based on available knowledge and literature. To verify, match and validate these models, measurements were conducted on an adapted and instrumented laboratory chiller. The measurements also included the introduction of failure modes, to validate the results found with the simulation models. Extract from the table of contents: enhanced condition monitoring; modelling for failure mode simulation (concept of the refrigeration plant model; compressor, condenser and evaporator models concept; initial compression cycle model and associated assumptions; other vessels in the compressor; refrigerant segments: one-phase and two-phase flows; simplified compressor and evaporator models; the refrigerant side; heat transfer); model verification, matching and validation; failure mode effects: measurement and simulation; conclusions and recommendations. In the appendices: description of test facilities and of measurements; detailed model descriptions; implementation of the models; additional simulation results; properties of R22 and water; nomenclature.
