Résumé

Based on the analysis of the chief problems which appear in conventional air-conditioning system, this paper presents the temperature and humidity independent control (THIC) air-conditioning system and the operating strategy. Outdoor air is used to deal with the latent load and improve indoor air quality; cooling source with 18°C is used to remove the sensible load of the building. The requests and effects of the THIC system on outdoor air processor, cooling source and indoor terminal devices are discussed here. An outdoor air handler, such as desiccant rotary wheel or liquid desiccant dehumidification system, supplies dry air to control indoor humidity. The chilled water temperature in THIC system rises from 7 to 18°C, which means natural cooling source such as the water in deep well can be used. Compared with the conventional air-conditioning system, the THIC system usually consumes less energy and operating costs are lower.
